Drummond Kahn

Drummond has served as Director of the Audit Services Division since February 2005. As Portland's Director of Audit Services, Drummond supervises all the audit projects completed by the division - managing a diverse professional staff of auditors in carrying out the audits of City government programs and offices. Drummond also acts as the official media spokesperson for all the audit projects, working with the division's public information specialist in communicating audit findings and recommendations to the public.
Under Drummond's leadership, the Audit Services Division has won the following awards, given by the Association of Local Government Auditors:

Prior to joining the City of Portland, Drummond served since 1990 in State and Federal government auditing positions, including service as Chief of Audit Services for the Oregon Department of Transportation (2000-2005), State Audit Administrator for the Oregon Audits Division (1998-2000), and in the United States General Accounting Office, the investigative arm of Congress. In 2009, Drummond also served as the Interim Director of the Oregon Audits Division.
Drummond serves on professional association boards, including the Board of Directors of the Association of Local Government Auditors (ALGA), the Editorial Board of the Journal of Government Financial Management, and AGA's Financial Management Standards Board. In 2009, he was appointed by the U.S. Comptroller General to serve on the Advisory Council on Government Auditing Standards. He served on the Board of Directors of the Pacific Northwest Intergovernmental Audit Forum, is a Past-President of the Association of Government Accountants' Portland Chapter, and served on AGA's National Committee on State and Local Government.
He assumed the office of president of the Association of Local Government Auditors at its annual conference in May 2012. He previously served for one year as president-elect and chair of the annual training conference for 2012.
Drummond has taught graduate courses in financial management and auditing at Portland State University’s Hatfield School of Government and at the University of Oregon’s Lundquist College of Business. He has also trained auditors and financial managers overseas through the USDA Graduate School’s International Institute.
Drummond holds a master's degree from the University of Oregon and a bachelor's degree from Whitman College.
He is a Certified Internal Auditor, Certified Government Financial Manager, and Certified Government Auditing Professional. He is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors, the Association of Government Accountants, and the Association of Local Government Auditors.
