Neighborhood Watch

Neighborhood Watch Program

The Neighborhood Watch Program increases safety and security in neighborhoods by involving as many households as possible in a united crime prevention effort. This program teaches community members to:
  • Communicate regularly using tools specific to Neighborhood Watch;
  • Recognize and report suspicious activity;
  • Increase home and vehicle security;
  • Increase personal safety of residents; and
  • Make neighborhoods less attractive to criminals.
Neighbors interested in organizing a Neighborhood or Apartment Watch should contact your local Crime Prevention Coordinator and read our brochure on Establishing Your Neighborhood Watch.

Business Watch
In a business district or a large office building where other topics such as shoplifting and robbery prevention, dealing with difficult people, workplace violence prevention and money handling security may be a concern, a Business Watch may be needed. Business Watch participants often develop a communication system through a fax or e-mail network to share information about potential problems and keep in touch with other local businesses.

Businesses interested in organizing a Business Watch should contact their local Crime Prevention Coordinator.
