2013 State Legislative Agenda FINAL REPORT Now Available 2013 Federal Legislative Agenda FINAL REPORT Now Available
Thanks to all the community members who participated in the two Community Engagement Input Sessions on August 6, 2012 and September 27, 2012 and who took time to submit online suggestions. The input sessions and online submissions provided an opportunity for public input for City Council consideration prior to the development of the City’s 2013 State and Federal Legislative Agendas. We heard a wide range of topics impacting Portland's many communities and neighborhoods. Below you will find summaries from the two input sessions and online submissions. We also appreciate the almost 200 people who participated in the Legislative Advocacy 101 workshop on January 8, 2013. Our deepest appreciation to Senator Ginny Burdick, Representative Lew Frederick and our community panelists for sharing their insights into the legislative process and the tips on how to be an effective community advocate.

Examples of how community input made a difference
Community input helped influence the choices City Council made in shaping the City's Legislative Agenda in 2009, 2010, and 2011.
See examples of bills passed and bills in committee upon adjournment during the 2011 session representing legislative issues community members raised during input sessions in the summer and fall of 2010. Examples of bills addressed themes including economic development, education, energy, environment, housing, land use, public safety, transportation and emergency communication.

Information on Past Sessions
Community Town Hall listening sessions were held the past three years to provide the public an opportunity to preview and provide input early-on regarding the draft 2011, 2012 and later this winter the 2013 State Legislative Agendas before City Council adoption. Mayor Adams and Commissioner Amanda Fritz deeply appreciated and considered the input given. This community feedback was critical and instrumental in helping create the City’s draft State Legislative Agendas.
Below are links to documents from these events as well as the City's Legislative Agendas for each year.
